Remembering and Upcycling

This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Here are a few things to read, look at, listen to, and think about:

The Man Who Disobeyed His Boss And Opened The Berlin Wall (from NPR)

This is a story (and audio) about a man named Harald Jaeger and what he did on November 9, 1989.

Love divided by the Wall | Journal (from Deutsche Welle)

A kind of love story.

The Berlin Wall, 25 Years After the Fall (from The Atlantic)

A collection of 36 photos (with captions)

Jewelry Made of Upcycled Weapons of Conflict & Artifacts (from Kickstarter)

A Kickstarter project that includes “upcycling” of bombshells and bullets from Cambodia, pieces of the Berlin Wall and other artifacts, to make jewelry.
