Do you have favourite smells? Freshly baked bread? Coffee brewing? Freshly cut grass?

How would you describe those scents, aromas, odors in other words? Sometimes it’s hard! Freshly cut grass smells … fresh, like spring or summer, like hay, green? Can something smell “green”?

This article from New Scientist explains: “English speakers, you stink at identifying smells”. English doesn’t allow us to describe olfactory experiences as well as certain other languages. How about another language you’re studying?

And of course the song to go with this post has got to be “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
