Dancing her way to the top

Another first this week: the first time a black woman was chosen to be a principal dancer in the American Ballet Theater.

(from Unworthy: “She began her ballet career in a Boys and Girls Club, in gym socks. Some said she’d never make it.”)

Wow. Those are some muscles.

Read more about her here: “Misty Copeland Is Promoted to Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theater” and thought-provoking comments like these:

“Funny we’re still talking like this in 2015. Instead of celebrating Ms. Copeland’s amazing personal achievement, we are directed to celebrate the ABT’s promotion of the first African-American female principal.”

“Does everything have to be about race when a Black person is involved? Celebrate PEOPLE and their accomplishments and stop being so divisive!”
