That’s the time when women in Iceland went on strike last week to protest the gender gap in wages. Women in Iceland make 18% less than their male counterparts, so they decided to stop working 18% earlier. According to this information, this was the fourth time women in Iceland had gone on strike, and each time has gotten a bit closer to 5 pm.

And yet Iceland is #1 on the WEF’s Global Gender Gap Report of 2015. Japan is #101. That’s appalling. Here are some reasons why the gap persists.
